Common Names: Calamondin, Calamansi, Philippine Lime, Panama Orange
Family: Rutaceae
Origin: Southeast Asia (particularly the Philippines)

The Calamondin (Citrus × Citrofortunella microcarpa) is a unique and versatile citrus hybrid, cherished for its small, tangy fruits and ornamental beauty. A cross between a kumquat and a mandarin orange, this compact citrus tree is a favorite in both culinary and ornamental gardens. Known as Calamansi in the Philippines, where it is widely used in cooking, this plant is ideal for container gardening and makes a stunning addition to patios, gardens, or even indoor spaces.

Leaves: The Calamondin tree has glossy, dark green leaves that are dense and evergreen, providing year-round beauty. The foliage has a slightly aromatic quality, adding a fragrant touch to your garden or home.

Fruits: The small, round fruits of the Calamondin are about the size of a large marble, with a thin, smooth skin that turns bright orange when fully ripe. The flesh is juicy and highly acidic, with a flavor similar to a tart lime. The fruit is packed with seeds and is commonly used in cooking, as a garnish, or for making refreshing drinks and preserves. The entire fruit, including the skin, can be used, adding a tangy zest to dishes.

Uses: Calamondin fruits are extremely versatile in the kitchen. They are widely used in Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly in Filipino dishes, as a souring agent or flavor enhancer. The juice is perfect for marinades, salad dressings, sauces, and refreshing beverages. The fruit can also be candied, made into marmalades, or used as a garnish for desserts and cocktails. Additionally, the tree’s compact size and year-round beauty make it a popular ornamental plant for both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Great product, saved my hair
Honestly this is one of the best products I have ever used for my hair. I have been able to increase volume and thickness of my hair. The product is versatile and can be used in conjunction with other products as well. The application is very easy and I usually use any excess product on my skin for the added benefits. If you have fine hair your hair will get oily if you don't wash out so I just apply at night and wash out the next morning. Overall my hair is so much healthier and I am really happy I found this. Also I apply this 2-3 times per week overnight and wash in the AM. It will stain your pillow case so sleep with a bonnet or something with breathable material.

Love this batana oil over the other brands
This batana oil has natural ingredients and leaves my hair very moisturized. I have seen some hair growth after using this for a few weeks. So it's great value for my money. It does have a coffee scent but that doesn't bother me at all. I would definitely repurchase this again.

**UPDATE ON PDT*** Ingredients changed
Ok here’s my update (4/4/26) We loved it. It did what it was supposed to do in the beginning but now I stopped using the product. Ingredients must’ve changed. It’s now a darker color, it doesn’t dissolve like it did in the past, and worst part— my daughter’s hair started breaking off. It could just be her hair but I don’t want to take chances. The ingredients definitely changed. We are trying azure batana and will stick with it for 3 months to see results. But as of now their product looks like the real deal. It’s a shame because I like consistency. I’ll stick with one product for years. Oh well. Tossed this one out. (Pic 1-2 AFTER USING; Pic 3 BEFORE USING) Yes it works. It smells so if you’re sensitive to smells, you might only want to use it as a deep conditioner. Both my daughter & I are adjusted to the smell and love the results so we can easily prioritize our results over the less than fragrant odor. But the results!!! My daughter lost 40% of her hair a yr ago to severe scalp ezcema (+ a trip to St Martin’s beautiful yet salty water). We used other products with marginal success. I started using this product 2 months ago & I already see results. We use it twice weekly as a spot treatment along the crown & nape of her head, and deep condition with it twice monthly. Her locs are growing and more importantly, her edges and nape are recovering tremendously. We’re going to keep at it!! We like the texture (moist but not sticky), it leaves her locs moisturized but not weighed down. Her hair is drinking it up. Will repost after 2 more months.
